Fat Bike in Royalty Free Images
A fat bike also called fatbike or fat-tire bike is an off-road bicycle with oversized tires, typically 3.8 in (97 mm) or larger and rims 2.6 in (66 mm) or wider, designed for low ground pressure to allow riding on soft unstable terrain, such as snow, sand, bogs and mud [Wikipedia].
Bike riding in northern Colorado
In November I created a series of pictures (and also video clips) featuring my new fat bike. I started to ride on lower trails in Lory State Park and Horsetooth Mountain Park. Then, I spent most the time exploring trails in Red Mountain Open Space and Soapstone Prairie Natural Area. These places are located north of Fort Collins near Wyoming border and are great for biking, hiking, horse riding and photography. However, they are closed for winter (December-February). Now, I am waiting for some snow in Fort Collins area to show my bike in winter scenery.
All pictures were shot with the mirrorless Sony A7R2camera and Sony 24-70mm lens. The camera was mounted on a light Gitzo Mountaineer Tripod. This is my minimalist camera set for biking. I carried the camera and tripod in MindShift Rotation 180 Trail backpack, but later I moved the tripod to a handlebar mount. Perhaps, I will add another lens to my photo backpack.
The pictures go to my stock photography portfolio, and most of them can be licensed as royalty free images. Selected images are also available as fine art prints and greeting cards.
Recently, I’ve been experimenting with digital painting effects applied to my photos in Photoshop. I like the Topazlabs Impression plugin for this purpose. You can see an example above – charcoal and pastel rendering of my bike original picture. What do you think? Fine art? Maybe. Fun? Yes. Usually, I am using this technique for old building, bridges, rustic barns and vintage objects.
